How long does it take for a divorce to be final?
This is a difficult question. If you have an ‘Uncontested Divorce’, on average it will take three to six months before your divorce becomes final.
If you are dealing with a ‘Contested Divorce’, then the time required will depend on the complexity of the issues. Child custody, property allocation and alimony are common areas that are contested. It is in your best interest to summarize and focus the areas of ‘contest’ in order to move your divorce on quickly. In either case, a consultation with a Christian & Shaw attorney will get you the information you need to proceed in your individual case.
